Red Hot Chili Peppers are excited to announce that the band will perform for the first time ever in South Africa in February 2013, Die Antwoord will be opening for them, Awesome.


Big Concerts have confirmed that Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform two shows live in South Africa in February 2013.

The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning rockers will perform a show on 2 February at Soccer City in Johannesburg and another at Cape Town Stadium on 5 February. The band – which consists of singer Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer – will be supported by Die Antwoord.

One of the most successful acts in rock history, Red Hot Chili Peppers have sold more than 60 million albums, including five multi-platinum LPs. The band has also won six Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Album for Stadium Arcadium, Best Rock Performance By a Duo or Group for Dani California, Best Rock Song for Scar Tissue, and Best Hard Rock Performance With Vocal for Give It Away. In April 2012 the band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Their newest release, I’m With You, was produced by Rick Rubin, who has produced the band’s previous five albums – 2006’s Stadium Arcadium, 2002’s By The Way, 1999’s Californication, 1995’s One Hot Minute, and 1991’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Both Californication and Blood Sugar Sex Magik have ranked in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Tickets go on public sale via all Computicket channels for the Johannesburg performance on Wednesday 29th August, followed by Cape Town on Thursday 30th August.
